Client Benefits Specialist

The Client Benefits Specialist performs administrative duties that include patient registration/scheduling and working closely with customers that effectively support the mission of Samaritan. This position interacts with counselors, team members, and other departments to accurately support daily operations to provide an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs yourself.
  • Greets patients and accurately checks patients into EHR using established patient registration check-in protocols.
  • Schedules patient appointments; inputs/verifies demographic and insurance information at the time of scheduling.
  • Ensures appointment verification is completed, records receipts, troubleshoots issues and notifies patients of all pertinent insurance issues or scheduling conflicts in advance of patient’s scheduled visit.
  • Record information from initial intake, client paperwork and billing forms into EHR.
  • Monitors schedule and patients waiting in lobby, alerts patients of any delays.
  • Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits and print receipt for customer.
  • Responsible for initiating daily electronic appointment reminders.
  • Assist with operations responsibilities, e.g., prepare bank deposit, record credit receipts.
  • Provide patients with support and guidance as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health medical terminology.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with customer service.
  • Fluent in Spanish (Highly preferred).
  • Must have MS Office experience and excellent typing skills.
  • Must have a high degree of customer service skills in order to communicate effectively with patients, counselors, and team members.
  • Must demonstrate problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and navigate between multiple computer systems simultaneously.
