Samaritan collaborates on grant projects

Front-Page News

Samaritan is featured in this front-page article by Katherine Lymn of the Post-Crescent on the $3 million in grants given by the Basic Needs Giving Partnership in the Fox Valley, Oshkosh and Green Bay — many of which support mental health as a basic need.

The Basic Needs Giving Partnership Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, supported by the J. J. Keller Foundation, the U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs and other community partners, is funding several initiatives in which Samaritan plays a part:

  • A collaborative, comprehensive school-based mental health program based in the Hortonville Area School District
  • A planning process exploring how to equip faith leaders as “first responders” in mental health
  • The No Wrong Door/Referral Access Information Link pilot, a web-based referral system to ease access to the mental health care system
  • Connected Community Wellness Screen, which provides free, voluntary, confidential emotional wellness check-ups to teens right at school

Samaritan is also a part of two collaborative projects in the Oshkosh area: Connected Community Wellness Screen, and Mental Health Collaboration. These projects are funded by grants from the Basic Needs Giving Partnership, which is supported by the U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs within the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, the J. J. Keller Foundation, the John E. Kuenzl Foundation, and other partner donors. Read more about those grants in this Oshkosh Northwestern article.
